Isle of Raasay Single Malt

The Isle of Raasay, an island rooted in centuries of illicit distilling, provides the ingredients for the perfect dram. The subtle, fragrant smokiness balanced with dark fruit flavours  Isle of Raasay Single Malt is an expression of this magical place.

Inspiration for the Isle of Raasay Single Malt Scotch Whisky came from some older styles of Hebridean single malts. Styles that had been lost through the ages and are not as prevalent anymore. This became the inspiration for the Isle of Raasay Distillery signature flavour profile: a lightly peated whisky, balanced with rich dark fruit flavours.

Two Isle of Raasay spirits – peated and unpeated – are matured separately in first fill Rye whiskey, fresh Chinkapin oak and first fill Bordeaux red wine casks. These six recipe casks marry together to create the perfect dram with real elegance, complexity and depth of character. Bottled at 46.4% ABV, natural colour, non-chill filtered.

Nose

Baked plums, red apples, and cherries lead to drying wood smoke with earthy vanilla and a hint of flint.

Palate

Minerality with crisp peat smoke, sweet, dark caramel, and biscuity malt. Creamy oak and peppery barley tangle beneath.

Finish

Just a subtle whiff of smoke on the finish, cushioned by salted nuts, chewy butterscotch, and sweet oak char.
