Tomatin 15 Year Old Port Cask Limited Edition

The Tomatin Portuguese Collection is a limited release that exhibits the unique influence imparted by different types of Portuguese Wine casks in an exceptional showcase. The spirit, distilled on 8th September 2006, was laid down in traditional Scotch Whisky oak casks for over 8 years. On 23rd April 2015 it was then moved into either Tawny Port, Moscatel de Setúbal or Madeira Wine casks for a further 7 years, resulting in a magnificent triad of single malt Scotch Whiskies.

The Port Edition - 1st Release

The first release in the Portuguese collection was aged in Tawny Port casks. Tawny Port is a connoisseurs’ wine; the best examples maintain a beautiful acidity with a sugar level that is not too high. In contrast to fruit-forward, powerful Vintage Port, Tawny Port offers a more subtle array of flavors like caramel, peanut brittle, dried fruits (apricots, dates, raisins, prunes), nutmeg, chocolate and walnut.

Deep Auburn

Nose

The initial aroma is that of Black Forest gateau, with warm spices developing into fresh summer fruits and cacao.

Palate

 The taste is deep with forest fruits; blackberries, raspberries and cherries, dark chocolate, and a touch of liquorice.

Finish 

Oaky spice builds. The sweeter notes of peach and apricot return on the finish.
