Tomatin 15 Year Old Madeira Cask Limited Edition

The Tomatin Portuguese Limited Edition Collection exhibits the unique influence imparted by different types of Portuguese Wine casks in an exceptional showcase. The spirit, distilled on 8th September 2006, was laid down in traditional Scotch Whisky oak casks for over 8 years. On 23rd April 2015 it was then moved into Tawny Port, Moscatel de Setúbal and Madeira Wine casks for a further 7 years, resulting in a magnificent triad of Limited Edition single malt Scotch Whiskies.

The Madeira Edition - 3rd Release

The third limited release in the Portuguese collection was aged in Madeira wine casks. Madeira is a fortified wine made on the Portuguese Madeira Islands, off the coast of Africa. Available in a range of dry to sweet styles, Madeira’s unique taste comes from repeatedly heating the wine. There are several tastes profiles, but most will have flavors of Caramel, Walnut Oil, Peach, Hazelnut, Orange Peel, and Burnt Sugar.

Pronounced aromas of honey and lemon take the lead.

Palate

Flavours of butterscotch and stewed apples dance on the palate. Sweet membrillo, with spiced apple compote, oaky vanilla, and crumbly shortcake.

Finish

The finish is treacly and fruity (honey, and warm spices).
