A rich, intense Scotch malt whisky redolent of baking spices and layered with toasty oak accents. The richness comes from finishing much of the whisky in custom-made new French oak casks – developed after our original methods fell foul of traditional techniques. It’s a bold composition, for those with a healthy scepticism for the rules. Rounder than the crackly sweetness of Bourbon, but punchier than Sherry-matured Scotch whiskies. The Spice Tree is great for after-dinner sipping, as an accompaniment to cheese, chocolate or spiced cakes.
The Spice Tree is a vatting of northern Highland distilleries. It was named Best Blended Malt Scotch at the 2015 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
The Spice Tree Gift Set contains a full-sized bottle of the award-winning The Spice Tree Blended Malt Scotch whisky plus two rocks glasses laser-etched with the iconic oak tree emblem from the label.
Flavour Profile
Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep honey and amber tones.
Nose
Fragrant and aromatic with notes of dried herbs, spices, oak and vanilla. Has a bourbon note to it. A level of warmth in the nose.
Palate
Sweet, full, and round without a hint of heaviness. Gingernut biscuits, toffee spices, herbal, vanilla, very rich and peppery. Clove, warm cinnamon, wave on wave and layer upon layer of flavor.
Finish
Long and sustained, with continued clove notes through the finish.
